Wicklow Local Sports Partnership
St. Mary’s liaise with Denise O’ Brien who is the sports development officer for Wicklow Sports Partnership. Denise provides the school with a list of training times for local clubs, dates for future events such as Tug of war. She very kindly provided us with our Daily mile signage which we will be using in the coming months.
GAA
We are very fortunate to have two visiting coaches working with the boys and girls from 5th & 6th classes every Tuesday. Each session is 30 mins long and the children practise drills and develop their own skills and abilities. The children are really benefitting from the guidance and expertise of the coaches. It has once again helped to introduce the game to all the pupils who may not ordinarily have the opportunity to take part. We hope to continue with this partnership after Christmas, with 3rd & 4th classes. Thanks to Kevin Dooley for all his help in organising the coaching.
FAI
We have been working with Richard Fitzgibbons from the FAI, over the past number of years on a number of school initiatives and events. We have been delighted to participate in and host a number of football blitzes, in our school hall and Crosschapel. Unfortunately due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, these events are suspended at present. We look forward to continuing are partnership with the FAI in future.
